This Mac commercial is an embarassment to PR professionals everywhere. While the ad is done in good humor, the fact remains that it is perpetuating the stereotype of PR people being spin doctors. While it would be nice to fault Mac for misrepresenting the public relations profession, we have no one to blame but ourselves for creating this stereotype. The responsibilit lies with each one of us as PR professionals to change this stereotype through good public relations practices.

It's not really that big a deal. Funny commercial, though.
As a lover of MACs I had to laugh at this commercial.
But as a student about to enter the PR profession--I find it frustrating to once again see PR "defined" so shallow. We all know PR is SO much more.
I just found your blog through the PRSSA blog. Hope life is grand! Your little baby is adorable!

Hi Adam,
even though I am a flak, I like this ad, and ya know, the poor woman is doing the best she can, given the scope of the PC's problem.
Yeah, I see the humor in the commercial Chris, but it's still sad to see PR portrayed this way!
I love MACs, but I didn't love this commercial. It's sad that she fits all the stereotypes we PR practitioners are trying to break out of these days. The worst is the "no comment" line. Ouch.
Glad you found it and brought it to our attention though!
Take care,
Meg
